Giving Back to Help Others Move Forward
Inspiring women to look and feel beautiful since 1960, Catherines is also committed to creating a culture of friendship, family and community. Our associates make genuine connections with our customers, forging relationships that may last a lifetime. We also engage our communities through a series of service programs that strive to make the world a better place. In doing so we inspire, and are inspired by, the amazing women we serve.
Roslyn S. Jaffe Awards
In 1962, Roslyn S. Jaffe was a working mother who, with her husband, saw a need and had a brilliant business idea —a one-stop shop that offered the convenience of a value-based, fashion-forward "work" wardrobe for busy women like herself. Roslyn and Elliot seized the opportunity and opened a small store named dressbarn in Stamford, CT and helped transform it into what is now Ascena Retail Group, Inc. Today, The Roslyn S. Jaffe Awards celebrate everyday heroes with a can-do attitude who are working to empower women and children in the areas of health, education, social support and self-esteem. Additional information and application details can be found at www.jaffeawards.com.
American Diabetes Association
Since 2009, Catherines and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) have teamed up to raise money and awareness to support the prevention and management of diabetes. Together, we truly believe we can make a difference. Catherines has sponsored a Register Round-Up campaigns in stores, offering customers the opportunity to use their spare change to change lives, and has participated in numerous ADA Step Out Walks across the country. Plus, Catherines has created specially designed fashions where a portion of each sale is contributed to the ADA. Through these and other programs, Catherines has raised more than $1,200,000 in the effort to stop diabetes.

Breast Cancer Research Foundation
According to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), every two minutes a woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer. At Catherines, we want to do our part to promote awareness and help fund important research. Catherines has joined forces with various organizations in an effort to battle breast cancer and save lives. This October, we’re partnering with the BCRF in a Register Round-Up campaign and offering specially designed merchandise where a portion of each sale is contributed to the BCRF*. Visit www.BCRFcure.org for more information.

Dress for Success
Since 1997, Dress for Success has provided a network of support, professional attire and developmental tools to help women achieve economic independence. Catherines supports this worthwhile charity in select cities by donating clothing samples, estimated to value $5,000–$10,000 annually this year and in 2015. Some local store associates also volunteer by hosting trend and styling seminars to promote confidence and successful outcomes for women in the community.
Dimes from the Heart
Catherines also cares about our associates. This program is unique because it is funded by associates and designed to provide up to a $2,500 emergency grant for associates in need. Assistance is offered for situations from a natural disaster to care of a family member. Visit www.ascenacares.com/dimes.html for more information about this program.
Giving Back in our Backyard
In addition to national and regional partnerships with worthy causes, our Catherines home office strives to be an active corporate citizen in our hometown of Bensalem, PA. Each year, our associates offer support through supply drives for nearby organizations. In recent years, these drives have been held to benefit the Bensalem School District, St. Mary’s Medical Center, the Bensalem Police Department, Almost Animal Shelter in New Jersey and the Penndel Community Food-BC Housing Group, just to name a few.
